Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) [Shiv Sena (UBT)] secured victories in 9 constituencies in the recent Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra.

The state is the second-largest in the country in terms of Lok Sabha constituencies, with 48 seats.

In these elections, voter turnout in the state was recorded at 61.33%, which was only slightly higher than the turnout in 2019. In June 2022, a revolt led by Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde resulted in a vertical split within the party.

Shiv Sena (UBT) lost its party name and symbol because of the split. Together with the Congress and Sharad Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party, it formed the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance in Maharashtra, which has in total won 30 out of 48 seats in the state. In these elections, Shiv Sena (UBT) has notably dominated the Mumbai region, securing victories in three out of six seats in the Lok Sabha elections 2024.

Essay on Lokmanya Tilak_#Essay on Lokmanya Tilak LOKMANYA TILAK -: A Visionary Leader of India's Freedom Struggle Introduction: Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, popularly known as Lokmanya Tilak, was one of the most prominent leaders of India's freedom struggle. Born on July 23, 1856, in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, Tilak was a multifaceted personality who played a pivotal role in inspiring and mobilizing the masses towards the goal of independence from British rule. As an ardent nationalist, a social reformer, and an eloquent journalist, Tilak left an indelible mark on the political landscape of India. This essay will explore the life, contributions, and legacy of this visionary leader. EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION -: Tilak hailed from a humble background and received his early education in Marathi and Sanskrit. He later pursued his higher studies in law and journalism, which laid the foundation for his future role as a journalist and political activist. During his formative years, Tilak was deeply influenced by the rich cultural and intellectual heritage of India, which shaped his nationalist ideals. Nationalist Ideals and Social Reforms: Tilak firmly believed in the principles of Swadeshi, self-rule, and the preservation of India's ancient cultural traditions. He emphasized the need for self-reliance and economic empowerment of the masses to strengthen the national movement. Tilak advocated for the boycott of foreign goods and promoted the use of indigenous products to foster national pride and unity. He also spearheaded social reforms, particularly in the field of education, by establishing schools and encouraging the spread of literacy among the masses. ROLE IN THE INADIAN NATIONAL CONGRESS -: Tilak's contribution to the Indian National Congress (INC) was significant. He played a crucial role in transforming the INC from a moderate organization into a mass movement demanding complete independence from British rule. Tilak was a proponent of the "Extremist" faction within the Congress, which advocated for a more aggressive and assertive approach in the fight against British imperialism. His famous slogan, "Swaraj is my birthright, and I shall have it," became the rallying cry for India's struggle for freedom. Fight against Colonial Oppression: Tilak firmly believed in the power of the press as a tool for political awakening. He founded newspapers like Kesari and Maratha, through which he fearlessly exposed the injustices of the British colonial administration. Tilak's writings and speeches served as a powerful medium to galvanize public opinion and unite the people against British oppression. He was fearless in his critique of British policies and sought to awaken the masses to their rights and duties as citizens of a free nation. Role in the Swadeshi Movement: The Swadeshi movement, which called for the boycott of British goods and the promotion of indigenous industries, gained momentum under Tilak's leadership. He actively supported and encouraged the use of swadeshi products, promoting economic self-sufficiency as a means to weaken British dominance. Tilak's efforts in this regard instilled a sense of national pride and self-confidence among the people, making them conscious of their role in the freedom struggle. Imprisonment and Legacy: Tilak's unwavering commitment to the cause of independence led to his imprisonment on multiple occasions. He faced numerous challenges, including sedition charges, but remained undeterred in his pursuit of freedom. His fearless spirit and unwavering determination continue to inspire generations of Indians even today. Tilak's advocacy for social reforms, promotion of national consciousness, and emphasis on self-rule laid the foundation for subsequent leaders of the freedom movement. Conclusion: Lokmanya Tilak was a visionary leader whose contributions to India's freedom struggle were immense. His firm belief in the principles of Sw
